- How big is the tattoo?
- Where on your body is the tattoo?
- What would you like changed? (What would you like to cover it with?)
- Please attach a picture of your current tattoo.

Are there any tattoos you won’t do?
We absolutely will not tattoo anything that our artists feel is inappropriate.
Obviously, we refuse to do tattoos that are discriminative, racist, hateful or replicating another artists tattoo. And NO under 18's!

Is there any place you won’t tattoo?
This is up to our artist’s decision, but generally we don’t make tattoos flippantly: on the face, hands, neck (front & side) or head, unless you are already heavily tattooed.

Can you tattoo this same tattoo on me?
Replicating other people’s tattoo is something we refuse to do. However, we’d be more than happy to design you a unique custom tattoo inspired by a design you like.

Can you design me a tattoo?
We have multiple tattoo artists here at Star Crossed, and they all have their own style. For example: Japanese Traditional, American Traditional, Realism, Neo-traditional.  Please take a look through their profiles, and let us know which artist you'd like to have something done by or who you think will best portray your idea based on their style. If however you have another idea in mind, our artists will be happy to design a custom tattoo for you (depending on the idea) based on your reference. Please bring along or send through whatever reference material you may have and we can take it from there. We do not charge extra for the drawing, but a deposit and a confirmed appointment date with us is required beforehand.

Will it ruin my tattoo if I gain muscle or weight?
A tattoo becomes part of your flesh- therefore if your skin grows or stretches, the tattoo does as well. It should not effect your tattoo... However if you gain weight rather quickly instead of gradually and are prone to stretch marks this will affect your skin where your tattoo may be. Otherwise it shouldn’t distort too much, especially if you grow steadily.

Is there any thing I shouldn’t do after getting tattooed?
Avoid soaking your tattoo or getting it excessively wet during the healing process. Soaking includes: baths (showers are fine), saunas, hot tubs, pools, beach etc. Please don’t pick at or scratch your fresh tattoo, no matter how itchy. And remember to shield your tattoo from ultra violet rays (the sun and tanning beds) for at least two weeks.

Is it OK to workout or play sports after getting tattooed?
Yes, a mild workout it’s fine. Be your own judge and listen to your body, it will tell you what it is capable of. Only do what is comfortable. Be careful not to impact your fresh tattoo or have your fresh tattoo soak in your sweat.

What kind of tattoo ink do you use?
We carry a variety of industry standard tattoo ink imported from UK & US to ensure the best possible quality. Vegan and hypoallergenic options are also available!

Do you do white-ink tattoos?
We generally do not recommended white ink tattoos. Some designs are simply not recommended for just white ink use. Send through your idea and we can see what is possible based on that.

We do have few concerns to share with you about only white ink in tattoos before you decide that this is what you want...

Firstly, we highly recommend black only ink over white only ink. Once the tattoo has healed up and settled in the skin white ink has a very high chance of fading, turning yellow, beige or purple (from the tensile used, depending on the design) in colour. It may also pull out completely, making the outcome rather unpredictable.

Does your studio tattoo with UV light (black light) reactive inks?
No, and we don’t plan on in the future.

Can you give me (may I apply) anaesthesia or an anaesthetic before getting tattooed?
No, and reason being:

- Medical grade anaesthetics (injections) require a doctor’s license to use and purchase in Hong Kong.
- Topical aesthetics (Emla cream or patch) only dulls the pain for half an hour or so, but when the sensation returns, it is a shock to the system and thus the discomfort felt from being tattooed can become even more painful.

We must also consider how Emla works: The cream or patch is applied to the skin and you have to wait 30 minutes for it to take effect. Once it starts working, it only lasts for about 30 to 45 minutes. An average sized tattoo takes about two hours.

This would mean that you would have to: (1) Apply the cream to 1/4 of the area to be tattooed. (2) Wait 30 minutes. (3) Begin tattooing, and stop after 30 minutes when it starts to wear off. (4) Apply the cream to another 1/4 of the area. (5) Wait 30 minutes. (6) Tattoo this section for half an hour. (7) Apply the cream to another 1/4 section of the area. (8) Wait 30 minutes. (9) Tattoo for another 30 minutes. (10) Apply the cream to the last quarter of the tattoo. (11) Wait 30 minutes. (12) Finally finish the tattoo. …

Because of the cream a 2-hour tattoo has turned into a 4+ hour project. The time spent waiting for your anaesthetic cream to activate will also be taken into account and added to the final price of your tattoo.

I got my tattoo a few days ago and the skin is very dry and it looks like the tattoo itself is peeling off. Is this normal?
Yes this is normal. The epidermis (top layers of skin) will shed due to the trauma of the tattooing process. The actual tattoo is in the dermis (your permanent under-skin) and is not affected by this shedding and/or flaking as long as you don’t pick at it or prematurely remove the scabs that form. Follow the aftercare instructions provided to you and it will heal fine.

I got a tattoo done at Star Crossed, can you touch it up?
We provide free touch up services within 1 year of being tattooed by us. Since this is a free service, you may have to wait between appointments before we can squeeze you in. In rare cases where a customer takes poor care of their tattoo, or wait an unreasonable amount of time before booking a touch up with us, a fee will be charged for the service. We DO NOT offer free touch ups for finger or feet tattoos as these two areas have a high chance of fading/pulling out.

How do I take care of my tattoo?
If you’ve received specific aftercare instructions from your artist, please follow their version. We sometimes give our clients special instructions on a case-to-case basis. For general tattoo aftercare information, please see  “Tattoo Aftercare”.

Do you ever have guest artists at the shop?
Yes! We will post all upcoming guests / events on our IG / Facebook.

Can you teach me how to tattoo?
We are currently not offering apprenticeships.
